Small Hands “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” – gentle discoveries for the smallest hands

Our Small Hands product line was developed with special attention to the needs of babies. Each sensory book is made with great love and care so your baby can grasp, squeeze and discover their world with ease. In this edition, the well-known little caterpillar from Eric Carle's picture books accompanies your baby across soft fabric pages and bold colours.

What your Small Hands sensory book offers:

  • 6 entertaining pages that playfully stimulate the senses
  • Encourages early sensory exploration
  • Supports the development of first motor skills
  • Bright, harmoniously coordinated colours to wonder at and linger over
  • Soft fabric pages that even very small hands can hold on to

This way, small hands gently grow into great explorers.

Within Germany, shipping is free from an order value of €50; below that we charge a fair 3.90 EUR shipping fee.

You have 30 days to decide at your leisure. Please note that the cost of return is covered by you.

Perfect for tiny hands and huge curiosity

Our Small Hands series was developed especially for the very first moments of play. The compact size and feather-light weight mean that even the smallest hands can grasp, hold and ‘turn the pages’ of the book on their own. A loyal companion that fits into any changing bag.

Safety first – 100% love, 0% worries

We know that babies discover the world with all their senses – including their mouth. That is why our Small Hands books are made from high-quality cotton tested for harmful substances. They are saliva-resistant, tear-resistant and, if needed, very easy to clean by hand. That keeps play hygienic and safe.

Gentle stimulation of the senses

Each of the six interactive pages offers exciting textures and high-contrast colours that gently stimulate your child’s visual perception and fine motor skills. Whether crinkly elements or soft appliqués – every page has something to touch and marvel at, without ever being overwhelming.

„Newborns focus best at a distance of 20 to 25 cm. High-contrast images, bold geometric shapes and black-and-white patterns are essential for early development. They strengthen the visual pathways and extend the attention span.“

The perfect gift

A bullseye! We gave My First Book to our older daughter and she is absolutely captivated. It's wonderful to see how she plays with the book, by turns excited and focused. The quality and the learning effect are fantastic!

Calm and focus for better sleep

When a child has trouble falling asleep, it's often due to a lack of calm phases or sensory overload. With My First Book the child becomes self-effective and gently settles down through focused activity.

Pedagogically convincing

I'm convinced by the quality. The lovingly crafted design and the well-thought-out playful elements support children in an age-appropriate way. An all-round successful concept!

YOU HAVE QUESTIONS,
WE HAVE ANSWERS.

Here's everything you need to know about starting your My First Book journey.

Our Small Hands books are safe from birth. In the first weeks we recommend starting with our black-and-white designs, because maximum contrast supports developing eyesight best. From around 3 months, when your baby begins to take in colours and shapes more consciously, is the ideal moment to move on to our colour editions. Of course you can start with colour from day one without any concern: because every element is firmly stitched and there are no small parts that could be swallowed, nothing stands in the way of safe discovery from the very first day.
To protect the durability and the fine details of our books, they are certified for gentle hand washing at a maximum of 40 °C. Many of our customers use a laundry bag on a delicate cycle for extra-careful cleaning, but our official recommendation is hand washing, so that shape and function last.
Absolutely — safety comes first for us. Our Small Hands books are designed so that your baby can explore them with their mouth without any worry: all materials are saliva-resistant and there are no small parts that could be swallowed.
No. The Small Hands range is built specifically without any loose small parts. Your baby can explore the book with every sense – including the mouth – entirely worry-free.
In the first months of life, eyesight is still developing. Our scientifically grounded, high-contrast designs help your baby train visual focus and take in detail more clearly.
Every Small Hands book has a practical attachment loop. With a ring you can easily fasten it to the car seat, the play arch or the pram, so it doesn't get lost while you're out.
